Success Story
Great work, Mr. Lament!

Riverside Health and Rehab would like to share the success of Mr. Richard Lament. Mr. Lament was admitted to the hospital with an acute CVA with R side weakness and difficulty consuming a regular diet. Prior to his hospitalization Mr. Lament was new to the Charleston area and was living alone and working a full-time job. He was completely Independent with walking community distances and completing all of his self-care tasks.
Upon admission to our facility, Mr. Lament required extensive assistance from staff for all mobility getting in/out bed, self-care activities, consuming an appropriate diet, and communication. After 6 weeks of physical, occupational, and speech therapy Mr. Lament has made huge gains and we are excited to be apart of his amazing journey. He is currently walking over 100 feet using a single point cane through the facility, able to go up/down 2 stairs, and completing his self-care tasks with very little help from staff. Above all he was able to regain his ability to consume regular foods which he is so excited for. Mr. Lament is continuing to work on strategies for effective communication, increasing his independence with mobility, and his aware of safety due to his residual deficits post CVA. The team at Riverside Health and Rehab are so proud of Mr. Lament and cannot wait to see him return home with supportive family very soon!
